Midday Pause: Turning Toward Jesus
A gentle prayer guide for the middle of your day. Pause whatever is before you and turn your heart toward Jesus. This guide invites you to offer him your morning, name what's real, give thanks, and ask for what you need for the hours ahead.

Adoration
Begin by remembering who Jesus is. You might think of a time recently when you sensed his presence or kindness—a moment of beauty, a answered prayer, a friend's unexpected text. Jesus shows up in all of it. As you sit here now, tell him what draws you to him. Maybe it's his patience. Maybe it's that he knows you completely and loves you anyway. As the apostle John wrote, "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19, ESV). You're not starting this prayer from scratch—his love got here first. Spend a moment simply naming back to Jesus the things about him that make your heart still: his faithfulness, his gentleness, his power, his presence with you right now.
Confession
Now, gently, bring the harder things. The morning may have held frustration, unkind words, a worry that took root, a choice you wish you could undo, or simply the weight of carrying everything alone. Jesus invites you into honesty—not because he's waiting to condemn you, but because confession is how we step out of hiding. The Scripture tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). There's nothing you can name that surprises him or disqualifies you from his love. Talk to him about what's been sitting in your chest. You don't need the perfect words—just the true ones.
Thanksgiving
Even in an ordinary day, there is grace threaded through. Thank Jesus for the specific things you've noticed: a meal, a moment without pain, someone who listened, your own breath, strength that showed up when you needed it. Thanksgiving doesn't require a perfect life—it requires eyes willing to see. The psalmist invites us: "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name" (Psalm 100:4, ESV). What small or large gifts has Jesus given you since you woke up? Name them. Let gratitude soften your heart and remind you that you're not carrying this day alone.
My Concerns
Finally, ask. Jesus told his followers, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). He doesn't ask you to know everything you need or to ask perfectly—he asks you to ask. What do you need for the rest of your day? Patience? Wisdom? Courage? Peace? Healing? Clarity? A shift in your heart? Tell Jesus what weighs on you and what you're hoping for. You might pray for someone else too—someone's name that came to mind, a situation that troubles you. Bring it all to him. He's listening, and he cares about what you care about.
