Midday Pause with Jesus
A gentle prayer guide to pause and reconnect with Jesus in the middle of your day. Whether you're between tasks, seeking a moment of calm, or simply wanting to draw closer to God, this guide walks you through adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication to anchor your afternoon in His presence.

Adoration
Start by noticing something about Jesus that draws you right now—not from obligation, but from what feels true and real in this moment. You might look around and see evidence of His care: the light coming through a window, the fact that you're still standing, the breath in your lungs. As the psalmist invites us, "Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf!" (Psalm 66:5, ESV). Talk to Jesus about who He is to you today. Not who you think He should be, but who He actually is. Maybe He feels steady when your day feels scattered. Maybe He feels patient when you're frustrated with yourself. Tell Him.
Confession
Now invite the Holy Spirit to show you anything that's come between you and peace today. It might be something you said, something you're holding onto, or simply a way you've been carrying the day that isn't His. You don't need to perform regret here—just honesty. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Name what comes to mind without shame. Jesus isn't surprised by any of it, and He's already made a way forward. Breathe out the weight of it.
Thanksgiving
Take a moment to notice one or two things—however small—that have been good or held you today. A meal. A conversation. The fact that you made it this far. "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). You're not pretending the hard parts aren't there; you're simply acknowledging that goodness is also here. Thank Jesus for these gifts, and for being with you even in the parts that feel ordinary or unclear.
My Concerns
Now bring forward what matters most to you right now. Maybe it's something you're carrying in your body—a worry, a decision, an ache. Maybe it's someone else you're thinking of. Maybe it's simply that you need strength to finish the day well. Bring it to Jesus without editing it. "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth" (Psalm 145:18, ESV). Ask Him not because you have to use the right words, but because you trust that He hears and cares. He invites you to bring everything to Him.
