A gentle morning prayer to invite God's wisdom and clarity into the decisions and unknowns ahead. This guide helps you bring your questions and uncertainties to Jesus and listen for his quiet direction as your day unfolds.

Adoration
Start by turning your attention to who Jesus is—not as your problem-solver yet, but as the One who knows every step ahead. You might whisper something simple: "Jesus, you are wise. You see what I cannot see. You know the path before I take a single step." Let that sink in. The psalmist knew this deeply: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV). Sit with the reality that he is not distant or distracted—he is present and attentive to you, right now, in this morning moment. You might spend a minute simply naming what draws you to trust him: his faithfulness, his patience, his love that has held you this far. Let gratitude for his character settle into your chest before you speak of anything else.
Confession
Now bring the weight you carry into the light. You might have been wrestling all night with a decision, or maybe you're standing at a crossroads uncertain which way is wise. Before you ask him to guide you, name what gets in the way of hearing him clearly. Do you tend to rush ahead without waiting? Do you fear making the wrong choice? Are you holding so tightly to what you think should happen that you cannot hear a different voice? There's no shame here—Jesus knows you already. As John reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Talk to him about the ways you've steered your own ship, the times you've been too proud or too afraid to seek his counsel. Let him lovingly show you where you need to soften, to listen, to surrender control. He is not scolding you; he is making room in your heart for his direction.
Thanksgiving
Thank him for specific ways he has guided you before—the times his direction became clear, the doors he opened or closed, the quiet certainty that rose up when you finally listened. You might recall a moment when you doubted and he proved faithful anyway, or when you took a step in faith and found solid ground beneath your feet. "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth" (John 16:12-13a, ESV)—Jesus promised not just guidance for today, but a guide for all your days. Thank him that you do not walk alone, that his Spirit is already working in you, preparing your heart, opening your eyes to the next right step. Gratitude quiets the anxiety that whispers you have to figure this out by yourself.
My Concerns
Now bring your specific need for guidance into the quiet. You might name the decision you're facing, the uncertainty that woke you early, the question that keeps surfacing. Talk to Jesus like you would a trusted friend: "Help me see clearly. Show me the way. Quiet my own agenda so I can hear yours." Ask him not just for an answer, but for peace as you wait for one. Ask for courage if the path he shows is costly, or humility if you need to admit you've been wrong. The Psalmist knew how to ask: "Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me" (Psalm 25:4-5a, ESV). You might ask for a sign, a conversation, a verse that catches your eye later, or simply the quiet certainty that settles in when you've stopped striving. Leave room for him to answer in his way, in his time. Tell him you're listening, and mean it.
