Morning Guidance: Seeking Clarity for Today
A gentle morning prayer to bring your decisions, uncertainties, and the day ahead to Jesus. This guide helps you listen for His direction as you begin your hours.

Adoration
Begin by simply naming what you know about Jesus this morning. You might thank Him that He is awake with you, that He sees the whole day before it happens, that He cares more about the decisions you'll make today than you do. As the book of Proverbs reminds us, "The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens" (Proverbs 3:19, ESV). His wisdom is not limited or hurried—it is full and present. Take a moment to sit with that truth. Who is this Jesus you're about to ask for guidance? What do you know about His character that makes you want to trust His direction?
Confession
Now turn to the places where you have not yet handed over control. Where do you already think you know the answer—and are you willing to be surprised by what Jesus might show you? Where have you been afraid to ask for guidance because you worried what the answer might be? There's no judgment here, only honesty. Jesus said, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault" (James 1:5, NIV). Notice the words *without finding fault*. You are safe to admit where you're stuck, where you've been going your own way, where you actually want His help more than you've admitted. Tell Him.
Thanksgiving
Before you ask for what comes next, pause to recognize how He has guided you before. What decision did you make—maybe weeks or months ago—where you later saw His hand? What clarity has He already given you? Thank Him not just for answers, but for the way He guided you even when the path wasn't obvious at the time. The psalmist writes, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11, ESV). His guidance isn't a transaction; it's an invitation into His presence. What small guidances from Him can you see in your past? Express gratitude for the way He has been with you.
My Concerns
Now bring the specific guidance you need today. Don't worry about finding the right words—Jesus knows what you're about to face. You might pray about a decision that's waiting, a conversation you dread, an uncertainty about what step to take next. Tell Him what you need to see clearly. And then ask not just for an answer, but to sense His presence as you move through the day. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV). You might ask Him to quiet the noise of other opinions, to help you recognize His voice when it comes, to give you courage to follow even if the path looks different than you expected. Wait a few moments in silence. Sometimes the clearest guidance comes not in words but in a settled sense of peace, or a gentle next step that becomes visible as you sit with Him.
