Morning Guidance: Seeking Wisdom for the Day Ahead
A gentle morning prayer to invite Jesus into the decisions and uncertainties ahead of you. This guide helps you lay out what you're facing and listen for His direction as your day unfolds.

Adoration
Start by turning your attention to Jesus himself. Think about how He knows what today holds before you even step into it. He isn't surprised by what's coming, and He isn't distant from the choices in front of you. You might pray something like: "Jesus, I praise you because you are faithful. Even when I can't see the whole path, you already do. I trust that you lead with wisdom and care." As the Psalmist writes, "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?" (Psalm 27:1, ESV). Sit for a moment with the reality that the One who made you is already awake and present. He welcomes your confusion and your questions.
Confession
Now, gently notice what's underneath your search for guidance. Are you anxious? Trying to control the outcome? Doubting that God cares about the smaller decisions too? There's no shame here—just honesty. You might say: "Jesus, I confess that sometimes I try to figure everything out on my own. I worry instead of trusting you. Forgive me for the times I've ignored your whisper because I was too busy listening to my own doubts." Remember, He is "faithful and just to forgive us our sins" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Confession isn't about punishment; it's about clearing the air so you can hear Him clearly.
Thanksgiving
Before you ask for direction, pause and acknowledge what He's already guided you through. Look back at decisions He's helped you make, paths He's closed that seemed right but weren't, moments when you felt His presence steering you. You might pray: "Thank you, Jesus, for the times you've already shown me the way. Thank you for protecting me from wrong turns I couldn't see. Thank you that I don't walk this alone." Paul reminds us that we can "be thankful in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV). Gratitude shifts your heart from anxiety to trust.
My Concerns
Now bring the specific situation to Jesus. Name it clearly—the decision you're facing, the uncertain relationship, the work question, the next step you can't quite see. You don't need fancy words. Simply tell Him what you need. You might say: "I'm seeking guidance about... Help me to discern your will. Give me wisdom. Quiet my fears enough that I can hear your voice." Jesus invites you into this: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). Take a moment to listen too—not for a booming voice, but for the quiet nudging of His Spirit. Sometimes guidance comes in stillness, in an opened door, in a conversation, in Scripture. Ask Him to make it clear in whatever way He chooses.
