Morning Guidance: Seeking Wisdom for the Day Ahead
A gentle prayer guide to invite Jesus into your decisions and uncertainties as your day begins. You'll bring your questions to Him, confess where you're seeking guidance from the wrong sources, give thanks for His faithfulness, and ask Him to lead your steps.

Adoration
Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is. He is not distant or uncertain. The apostle James writes that God gives "generously to all without finding fault" (James 1:5, ESV)—which means He doesn't hesitate, doesn't hold back wisdom from those who ask. Take a moment to let that sink in. You're praying to someone who loves clarity and who loves you enough to guide you through it.
Think about the times Jesus has led you before—maybe not in ways you expected, but faithfully. You might whisper to Him: "You know what I need today. You see around the corners I can't see." As the Psalmist says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105, ESV). That's who you're turning to right now—the one who illuminates the way forward.

Confession
Now bring your honest heart. Where have you been trying to figure things out on your own? Where have you been listening to doubt, or to voices that don't belong to Jesus—anxiety, pressure from others, or your own fear? You don't need to pretend you have it all sorted. Jesus already knows, and He's not surprised or disappointed by your confusion.
Talk to Him about the times you've made decisions without asking Him first, or the moments when you've wanted His guidance but didn't actually trust it. There's freedom in naming this: "I've been trying to steer without you" or "I've been afraid to follow where you're leading." He covers all of this. As John writes, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). That cleansing? It starts your day fresh, ready to listen.

Thanksgiving
What has Jesus guided you through? Look back at even small moments—decisions that worked out, doors that opened or closed, times when His hand was unmistakably there. You might not have recognized it in the moment, but can you see it now?
Thank Him for past guidance that shaped you into who you are today. Thank Him that He doesn't run out of wisdom, that He doesn't get tired of being asked the same questions. The Psalmist says, "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye upon you" (Psalm 32:8, ESV). His eye is on you this morning. Express gratitude for that presence, that attentiveness, that He shows up as a guide who actually cares about the outcome.

My Concerns
Now bring your specific need. What decision or uncertainty are you carrying into today? Name it simply: a conversation you're dreading, a choice that feels too big, a direction you sense but aren't sure about, work that feels unclear. Jesus invites you to bring these things to Him.
You might pray: "Lead me today. Show me what matters most. Give me wisdom when I'm unsure, courage when I'm afraid, and help me recognize your voice when the day gets loud." Ask Him to speak through circumstances, through people, through His Word, through the quiet knowing He gives to those who listen. Proverbs says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV). Right now, you're choosing to trust Him with this day. Ask Him to keep you aware of His guidance as it comes—sometimes it's a sudden clarity, sometimes a slow settling peace, sometimes a gentle nudge through an unexpected conversation. Stay open to how He shows up.
