Morning Light: Seeking Guidance
A prayer guide to begin your day by opening your heart to Jesus's direction. This is a time to lay your questions before Him and listen for His gentle leading as you step into what's ahead.

Adoration
Start by simply noticing His presence with you right now, in this quiet morning hour. Jesus, You are the one who walks ahead of us—the Good Shepherd who knows the way. Take a moment to acknowledge His nearness. You might rest in the truth that "in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:6, ESV). Before you ask anything of Him, let yourself be held by the fact that He is already here, already aware of your day. There is no rush. Tell Jesus what it means to you that He sees the whole day stretched before you—the decisions, the forks in the road, the moments you're unsure of—and that He invites you to walk with Him through it all.
Confession
Here is a space to be honest about the places where you've tried to chart your own course without Him. You might gently acknowledge times when you've rushed ahead, ignored a quiet prompting, or been afraid to ask for help. Jesus doesn't shame us for our hesitation or our missteps. As Scripture reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). There's also no need to rehearse old failures—if you've already turned those over to Him, let them stay turned. Instead, talk to Jesus about any pride, fear, or stubbornness that might be clouding your ability to hear Him today. What would it mean to lay those down right now, to come to Him as someone willing to be redirected?
Thanksgiving
Thank Him for the ways He has already guided you—not perfectly, perhaps, but faithfully. Bring to mind a time when you sensed His hand, when a door opened or closed at just the right moment, when someone spoke a word you needed to hear. Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me" (John 10:14, ESV). You are known by name. Take time to thank Him for knowing you this well, for loving you enough to guide you even when you wander. Thank Him too for the gift of this new day, this fresh chance to follow Him. Gratitude opens our ears to hear His voice more clearly.
My Concerns
Now bring your real questions to Jesus. What decisions are you carrying into today? Where do you need light? You don't need to have the words perfect—just lay it out honestly. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). Tell Him what you need guidance about, and then pause. Not to demand an answer in the next five minutes, but to signal that you're listening. Ask Him to quiet the noise of anxiety or the pressure to figure it all out on your own. Ask for wisdom, for peace, for the courage to take the next small step even if you can't see the whole path. Ask Him to speak through circumstances, through His Word, through wise counsel, through that still, small voice within. Then listen. He promises to guide those who ask.
