Morning Meetings: Bringing Jesus Into Your Day

A prayer guide for the early morning before meetings begin. This guide helps you quiet your mind, invite Jesus into the day ahead, and release anxiety about conversations and decisions to come. Whether you have one meeting or many, this prayer roots you in His presence before the day pulls you in different directions.

Morning Before a big moment
5–12 min

Before the meetings begin and the day takes hold, pause here. Jesus is awake with you, and He wants to meet you in these next few minutes.

Adoration

Begin by turning your attention away from the clock and toward Jesus. Take a breath. He is already present in this moment, and He has not forgotten about you or what lies ahead. You might start by telling Him what you admire about His character—perhaps His patience, His wisdom, or the way He speaks truth with such steadiness. As the psalmist writes, "One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord" (Psalm 27:4, ESV). You don't need to perform or impress in His presence. Simply look toward Him and let yourself rest in the fact that He knows every conversation you'll have today—and He's already there in each one. Tell Him: I trust that you are with me. I worship you because you are faithful, steady, and true.

Confession

Meetings can stir up things in us we don't always want to admit—maybe a desire to be seen or approved, a fear of saying the wrong thing, or impatience with someone else's viewpoint. Take a moment now to be honest with Jesus about what you're carrying into these meetings. Is there anxiety masking itself as control? Is there pride creeping in? You don't need to hide it. As Scripture reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). Speak to Him plainly: the frustration you're bracing for, the words you regret from a previous meeting, the way your heart races when you think about speaking up. Jesus meets you here with mercy, not condemnation. Let His kindness draw out your honesty. You are known, and you are loved anyway.

Thanksgiving

Even before these meetings happen, there is so much to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the people you'll meet with today—even the difficult ones. Thank Him for giving you a voice and for being interested in how you think. Thank Him that He doesn't depend on your performance to love you, which means you are free to simply show up as yourself. As Paul writes, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV). You might thank Him for a previous meeting that went well, or for a person who made you feel heard. Thank Him for this morning itself—the quietness before the rush, the chance to realign your heart. Speak it aloud if you can: I am grateful that you are with me, that you see me, and that these meetings matter to you.

My Concerns

Now bring your specific meetings before Jesus. Don't bury the real requests. Ask Him for clarity when you're confused. Ask Him for gentleness with someone who frustrates you. Ask Him for courage to say what needs to be said, or wisdom to know when to listen instead. Ask Him to quiet the voice that says your worth depends on how well today goes. As Jesus Himself taught us, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7, ESV). You might pray: Help me see others the way you see them. Give me words that are honest and kind. Calm my racing mind and ground me in your presence through each conversation. Let me remember that I belong to you, not to these meetings. Close by asking Him to go with you—to be the quiet center of your day, even when everything around you is loud and fast.
