Morning Prayer: A Fresh Start

Begin your day by turning your heart toward Jesus. This prayer guide walks you through adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication—giving you space to lay your day at His feet and invite His presence into everything ahead.

Morning Everyday life
5–12 min

Good morning. Before the day pulls you in different directions, take these few minutes to sit with Jesus and anchor yourself in His presence.

Adoration

Start by noticing who Jesus is. You might think about what drew you to follow Him, or simply recall a moment when you felt His faithfulness. As you settle in, you could pray something like: "Jesus, You are here with me right now. You never sleep, and You were awake all night—watching over me, caring for what matters to me." The Psalmist captures this beautifully: "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me" (Psalm 3:5, ESV). Let that sink in. Before your feet hit the ground, before your to-do list starts, Jesus has already been present. Take a moment to tell Him what you admire about His character—His faithfulness, His gentleness, His strength, His love for you specifically.

Confession

Now gently bring before Jesus the places where you've stumbled—not to condemn yourself, but to clear the air between you and Him. You might acknowledge times yesterday when you were short with someone, or when you chose to worry instead of trust, or when you simply forgot He was there. There's no need to catalog every mistake. As John reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, ESV). That's the heart of this moment—bringing your honest self to Jesus and receiving His cleansing. Talk to Him about what's on your conscience. Let yourself be known, and then let yourself be forgiven.

Thanksgiving

Shift your attention to gratitude. What has Jesus done? What did He provide yesterday? What small or large gift showed up in your life—a person who helped you, a moment of peace, a need that was met? You might thank Him for sleep, for breath, for the day ahead even though you don't know what it holds. The Apostle Paul writes, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, ESV). Thanksgiving isn't about pretending hard things don't exist—it's about noticing the good that does exist. Spend a few moments naming three things, big or small, that you're grateful for. Let your heart actually feel the gratitude as you speak it aloud or hold it in silence before Him.

My Concerns

Finally, bring your day to Jesus. What are you hoping for? What are you anxious about? What do you need His help with? You might pray for a conversation you're dreading, for wisdom in a decision, for patience with a difficult person, for strength for what's ahead, or simply for the grace to trust Him moment by moment. Jesus invites you with these words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Lay your requests before Him—not to earn His help, but because He has invited you to share the weight. Pray for yourself, for people you love, for needs you see in the world. Ask Him to make you aware of His presence throughout the day and to help you respond to what He brings your way.
