Morning Prayer: Beginning Your Day with Jesus
A gentle prayer guide to help you start your day by bringing your whole self — your hopes, your questions, your gratitude — into conversation with Jesus. This is a chance to invite Him into whatever lies ahead.

Adoration
Begin by simply noticing who Jesus is. You don't need fancy words — just sit with the truth that He is good, faithful, and already at work in your life. You might think about a time recently when you felt His presence or saw His kindness. Maybe it was small — a moment of peace, a friend's word at the right time, a provision you didn't expect. Let those moments remind you that He is worthy of your attention and trust. As the psalmist says, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever" (Psalm 107:1, NIV). Speak that goodness back to Him in your own words. Tell Him what draws you to Him — His patience, His strength, His love. There's no rush here. Let your heart settle into gratitude for who He simply is.
Confession
Now, gently bring to mind anything that weighs on you — anything you've said or done, or left undone, that you know has created distance between you and Jesus. You don't need to perform guilt; just be honest. Maybe you spoke harshly yesterday. Maybe you've been carrying worry instead of bringing it to Him. Maybe you've doubted His goodness. Whatever it is, name it simply. Jesus already knows, and He's not shocked or disappointed by what you're about to say. The good news is this: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). Confession isn't punishment — it's the doorway back to closeness with Him. Talk to Jesus about what's been between you. Ask Him to forgive you. And then let yourself receive that forgiveness. He has already made a way.
Thanksgiving
Let your heart turn toward gratitude. What has Jesus given you — not just the big things, but the everyday gifts? A breath of air. Coffee warming your hands. Someone who believes in you. A new day itself, full of possibility. You might not feel grateful for everything in your life right now, and that's okay. But can you find something — even something small — to thank Him for? As you think of those things, speak them aloud or in your heart: "Thank you." It's simple and honest. Consider the verse, "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, NIV). Thanksgiving isn't about pretending life is easy; it's about recognizing that Jesus is with you even in the ordinary and the hard. What do you want to thank Him for today?
My Concerns
Finally, bring your hopes and needs before Him. What are you asking Jesus for today? Maybe you need courage for something ahead. Maybe you're asking for healing, for clarity, for help with a relationship. Maybe you're asking Him to be near to someone you love who is struggling. Jesus invites you into this: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). Don't hold back. He wants to hear what matters to your heart. Ask Him to guide your words and actions today. Ask Him to make His will clear. Ask Him for the strength to trust Him, even when the outcome isn't what you expected. And as you ask, remember that He is listening — not as a distant judge, but as a Father who loves you. You can trust Him with what you're bringing to Him right now.
