Morning with Jesus

A gentle guide to meet Jesus at the start of your day, offering your morning to him and inviting his presence into whatever unfolds.

Morning Everyday life
5–12 min

Good morning. Before the day pulls you in different directions, take a few moments to sit with Jesus and offer him your heart and your hours.

Adoration

Begin by simply noticing Jesus with you right now. You might think about who he is—not as a distant idea, but as present, awake, and aware of you this very morning. As the psalmist invites us, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord" (Psalm 27:4, NIV). What is one thing about Jesus that steadies your heart? His faithfulness? His gentleness? His strength? Speak it to him. Tell him what draws you to him. There is no rush—let this be a conversation, not a checklist.

You might pray something like: "Jesus, I notice this morning that you are... and I'm grateful for that about you." Let your own words form as you sit with him.

Confession

Now bring the weight you carry. Not because shame belongs in the morning, but because Jesus meets us there and lightens the load. Think about yesterday, or even just this coming day—where do you feel yourself pulling away from him? Where might you be tempted to trust yourself instead? As John writes, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV).

You don't need elaborate words. Simply name what comes to mind: the impatience, the worry, the small dishonesty, the unkind thought. Bring it to Jesus as if you're setting it on a table between you, and ask for his forgiveness. His answer is already yes.

Thanksgiving

Before the day demands your attention, pause to notice what you already have. Look around—a warm cup, a safe bed you woke in, breath in your lungs, another day. Jesus taught us that gratitude softens the heart and opens our eyes to abundance. As Paul reminds us, "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV).

What is one thing—large or small—that you're grateful for? It might be a person, a gift, a second chance, or simply that you woke up. Tell Jesus. Thank him specifically. Notice how naming gratitude changes the texture of your morning.

My Concerns

Now bring your day to him. Not as a wish list, but as an invitation for Jesus to go with you. What do you need? Where do you feel uncertain or afraid? What are you hoping for? Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7, NIV). He welcomes your asking.

Talk to him about what matters most today—a conversation you need to have, a decision weighing on you, patience you're short on, courage you lack, or simply the grace to be present. You might say: "Jesus, I'm asking you for... and I'm trusting you with..." Leave room for his peace to settle over your requests. He hears you.
