Pause in the Middle: A Midday Prayer for Meetings
A brief prayer guide to center yourself in Jesus during the busy rhythm of meetings. This is for the moments between back-to-backs, or before stepping into a difficult conversation—a chance to remember that you're not alone in the demands of your day.

Adoration
Start by noticing that Jesus is present with you even in the ordinary rhythms of work and conversation. He wasn't distant during the meetings this morning, and He isn't absent now. You might simply tell Him what draws your heart toward Him today—maybe it's His steadiness, His calm, His way of seeing people. As it's written, 'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever' (Hebrews 13:8, ESV). In a day full of changing agendas and shifting conversations, His character doesn't shift. Spend a moment in quiet gratitude for a God who shows up in the middle of your Tuesday or Thursday, not just on Sunday mornings.
Confession
This is a safe place to be honest. You might acknowledge where you felt impatient in a meeting, where your words came too quick, or where you were distracted instead of truly listening. Or perhaps you carried anxiety into a conversation that you wish you'd handed over to Jesus instead. There's no judgment here—only an invitation to name what's real. As Jesus Himself said, 'Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest' (Matthew 11:28, ESV). That weariness is welcome here. You don't have to pretend to have it all figured out. Simply tell Jesus what you're carrying, and let yourself be forgiven.
Thanksgiving
Notice the small kindnesses in your meetings today—a moment of genuine connection with a colleague, a decision that went well, or simply the fact that you made it this far. You might thank Jesus for the clarity He gave you in a conversation, or for the colleague who made you laugh. Even if the meetings have been hard, there's always something to be grateful for: your breath, your mind, the privilege of work itself. As Paul wrote, 'Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you' (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV). Gratitude doesn't erase difficulty—it anchors you to the good that's still present. Take a moment to tell Jesus specifically what you're thankful for in this day.
My Concerns
Now bring the rest of your day to Jesus. If you have more meetings ahead, you might ask Him for calm, for wisdom in your words, or for the ability to truly listen to the people in the room. Ask for patience with someone difficult, or courage if you need to have a hard conversation. Or simply ask for His presence to remain as steady in the next hours as it is right now. As Jesus teaches, 'And therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours' (Mark 11:24, ESV). You can trust Him with the meetings still ahead, with the people who need your attention, and with your own heart. Bring it all to Him now, without editing or filtering.
