Adoration
Begin by remembering who Jesus is in the midst of your uncertainty. He is not distant or unclear about who He is. The prophet Isaiah wrote of Him: "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it'" (Isaiah 30:21, NIV). Jesus knows the way forward. He is not confused. He is not waiting to see what you'll do. Take a moment to acknowledge His wisdom—that He sees the whole picture, past and future, and invites you into that clarity. You might pray something like: *Jesus, I know you are wise and trustworthy. You are not surprised by this decision I'm facing. Help me see you clearly in this moment.*
Confession
Now, gently bring your honest self before Him. Where has fear kept you from asking for help? Where have you been trying to figure this out alone, as if relying on your own strength were somehow more faithful? There is no shame in admitting that you don't know the way forward. Jesus said, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault" (James 1:5, NIV). Notice—He does not shame you for asking. He invites it. Take a breath and tell Him: *Jesus, I confess that I've been trying to carry this weight alone. I'm afraid of making the wrong choice. Help me release my grip and trust you.*
Thanksgiving
Even in uncertainty, there is much to be grateful for. You have been guided before. Think back: when have you seen Jesus lead you, even in small ways? Maybe it was a conversation that came at just the right time, a door that closed when you needed it to, or a quiet sense of peace about a choice. Thank Him for those moments. Paul wrote, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6, NIV). Gratitude anchors you in what you know to be true: Jesus has not abandoned you before, and He will not now. You might say: *Thank you, Jesus, for the times you've guided me. Thank you that I can trust you now, even when I can't see the full path ahead.*
My Concerns
Finally, bring your specific need before Him. Name the decision or direction you're seeking. Be concrete. Don't be vague—Jesus welcomes your particularity. Ask Him to show you the way, to give you wisdom, to close doors that shouldn't open and open doors that should. Ask Him to calm your anxious thoughts and give you the peace that "transcends all understanding" (Philippians 4:7, NIV). Ask Him also to give you patience, because sometimes guidance comes slowly, not all at once. You might pray: *Jesus, I'm facing [name your decision]. I'm asking you to guide me. Show me the next faithful step. Give me wisdom to discern your direction. Calm my fear. Help me hear your voice above my own doubts. And help me trust you, even if the full picture isn't clear yet.*
