Seeking Guidance in the Evening
As the day settles, bring your questions and uncertainties to Jesus. This prayer guide helps you lay out what you're wrestling with and invites you to listen for His direction in the quiet of evening.

Adoration
Begin by turning your attention to who Jesus is—not primarily as a problem-solver, but as the one who knows the way forward because He knows you completely. You might start by acknowledging His wisdom. The book of Proverbs reminds us that "the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6, ESV). Jesus is not distant from your confusion; He invites you to trust that He sees the whole picture—past, present, and the path ahead—in a way you cannot yet see.
Take a moment to simply name His trustworthiness. You might pray something like: *Jesus, You are wise. You see what I cannot. I trust that You care about where I'm heading.* Let that truth settle for a moment before moving forward.

Confession
Now, gently bring honesty into your prayer. Where have you been trying to figure this out on your own? Where might fear, pride, or impatience be steering your thoughts instead of faith? There's no judgment here—just truthfulness. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Part of coming to Him is admitting we cannot carry the weight of deciding alone.
You might acknowledge: *I confess that I've been anxious about this decision. I haven't waited for You; I've rushed ahead. I'm sorry for the times I've trusted my own understanding instead of asking for Your direction.* Speak whatever is true for you. Jesus meets confession with mercy, not condemnation.

Thanksgiving
Even in uncertainty, there is much to be grateful for. Thank Jesus for the ways He has guided you before—times when His hand became clear only in hindsight, or moments when He closed a door that needed closing. The Psalmist writes, "You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory" (Psalm 73:24, ESV). His guidance is not random; it's part of a larger story of care.
You might also give thanks for the very fact that you're seeking His guidance now—that you want to move toward Him rather than away. Thank Him for people in your life who reflect His wisdom, for the Bible that speaks truth, for the quiet of this evening itself. "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV).

My Concerns
Now bring your specific need before Jesus. Name the decision you're facing or the uncertainty you're carrying. Be direct. You don't need to use perfect words—just honesty. You might pray: *Jesus, I'm facing [name the situation]. I don't know which way to turn. Show me Your will. Make it clear to me.*
Then, go deeper by asking for what you truly need: clarity, peace, patience, courage, or wisdom to recognize His voice. Remember that Jesus promises, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5, ESV). Ask Him to quiet the noise in your mind so you can listen. Ask Him to guide not just this one decision, but to shape you into someone who naturally looks to Him. And ask for trust—the ability to take the next small step forward, even if the whole path isn't yet visible.
