Seeking Guidance This Morning
A gentle prayer guide to help you bring your questions and uncertainties to Jesus at the start of your day, inviting Him to show you the way forward.

Adoration
Begin by noticing who Jesus is in your uncertainty. He is not confused or surprised by the decisions ahead of you. As you sit with Him, you might pray something like: *"Jesus, you see the whole story—my past, this present moment, and what's coming. I praise you because you're not distant from my questions. You're the one who knows the path before I take a single step."* The Psalmist reminds us that even in the darkness, God's light guides us: *"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"* (Psalm 119:105, ESV). Take a moment to acknowledge that Jesus himself walked through uncertainty on earth. He understands what it feels like to seek the Father's will. He walked it faithfully, and He invites you to trust that same closeness.
Confession
Now, gently turn your attention inward. Where have you been trying to figure things out on your own? Is there a place where you've rushed ahead without asking Him, or held back from trusting Him because you were afraid? There's no judgment here—only Jesus, who sees you fully and loves you anyway. You might whisper: *"I confess that I've been leaning on my own understanding instead of yours. I've wanted certainty before I'd trust you. Forgive me."* Jesus promised us in Proverbs that *"In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths"* (Proverbs 3:6, ESV). He isn't asking for perfect faith—only honest faith. If you've doubted, if you've felt anxious, if you've made decisions without consulting Him—name it. He already knows, and He's already making space for your confession.
Thanksgiving
Before you ask for the path forward, pause to notice what He has already done. Thank Jesus for guiding you to this very morning—for every decision that brought you here, for the ways He's been faithful even when you didn't see it at the time. You might pray: *"Thank you, Jesus, for showing up in my life. Thank you for every time you've redirected me, protected me, or surprised me with something better than I planned."* As Paul wrote, we can give thanks *"in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you"* (1 Thessalonians 5:18, ESV). Even the uncertainty you're facing right now is an opportunity to see His faithfulness. When you look back over your life, you may realize He was guiding you long before you asked. Take a moment to name one way He's guided you before.
My Concerns
Now bring your specific need for guidance to Him. Don't dress it up or make it sound more spiritual than it is. Simply tell Jesus what you're wondering about, what decision you're facing, or what direction you're seeking. You might say: *"Jesus, show me your will in this. I'm asking for clarity, for wisdom, for the courage to follow where you lead—even if it's different from what I expected."* He promises us in James that *"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault"* (James 1:5, NIV). As you pray, ask Him to guide not just your mind but your heart—to align your desires with His. Ask Him to make His will clear through Scripture, through wise counsel, through circumstances, through the gentle prompting of His Spirit. Then—and this is important—ask Him for the willingness to follow, whatever He shows you. Close by saying: *"I trust you, Jesus. Show me the next step, and help me take it."*
