Seeking Wisdom for the Day Ahead
A morning prayer to invite Jesus into your decisions and to listen for His guidance as the day unfolds.

Adoration
Begin by turning your attention to who Jesus is — the one who knows the way forward before you do. You might whisper something like, "You are the Light of the World," and sit with that for a moment. Think about a time recently when you felt His guidance — even in a small way — and let that shape how you speak to Him now. As Proverbs reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5, ESV). There's something restful in that permission to stop leaning so hard on your own mind. Spend a minute simply honoring Jesus as the guide who sees what you cannot see.
Confession
Now, gently notice where you've been trying to chart your own course without asking Him. Maybe you've made a decision this week without pausing to pray. Maybe you're holding worry about the future instead of bringing it to Him. You don't need to perform guilt here — just name it. Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, ESV). That weariness often comes from carrying direction alone. Tell Him where you've been carrying too much, and let yourself receive the quiet forgiveness that He offers in the morning light.
Thanksgiving
Shift now to gratitude for the ways Jesus has guided you — sometimes through clear direction, sometimes through closed doors, sometimes through people who spoke exactly what you needed to hear. Thank Him for mornings like this one, where you get to start again with an open hand instead of a clenched fist. The psalmist writes, "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11, ESV). Spend a moment naming one or two specific ways His guidance has mattered in your life. Let that gratitude settle in your chest as you begin your day.
My Concerns
Finally, bring the decisions and uncertainties ahead to Jesus with an open heart. What's the choice you're facing? What's the direction you're unsure about? Instead of asking Him to simply hand you the answer, try asking Him to guide you as you move through the day — to quicken your spirit when something is right, to give you peace about next steps, to help you hear His voice in the ordinary moments. You might pray, "Show me what you see. Help me trust you today." Remember that Jesus promises, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5, ESV). That wisdom isn't always immediate, but it comes. Leave space for Him to guide you not just in this moment, but throughout the hours ahead.
